Columbus Multiple DUI Attorney

Under Ohio law, there is a six-year lookback period for DUIs. In other words, even if your first DUI was six years ago, it will factor into your sentencing if you are charged with another DUI. Recent changes to Ohio law allow judges to apply harsher punishments to people charged with DUI.

I am criminal defense attorney Terry K. Sherman. Over the past 40 years, I have defended hundreds of DUI cases and have argued more than 300 cases at trial. I have the knowledge and experience necessary to minimize your exposure to harsh penalties for DUI charges.

Columbus Repeat DUI Attorney

For multiple DUI offenses, there is mandatory minimum jail time:

  • Three days for a first offense
  • 10 days for a second offense
  • 30 days for a third offense

If you refuse to take a Breathalyzer or field sobriety test, courts are allowed by law to add up to 10 days to your jail sentence.

Additionally, DUI offenses can have severe consequences that affect your ability to drive, your ability to find employment and your insurance rates. Simply put, a DUI, whether it is a second, third or fourth offense, is very expensive. A lawyer's help can actually save you a great deal of money in the long term.
